Supporting Every Stage of Early Childhood Development

At Creative Hands Early Learning Centre, our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to nurture every stage of a child’s development — from infancy to school readiness. Guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), our programs promote learning through play, positive relationships, and responsive environments. We support children to grow socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically in a warm, inclusive, and engaging space.

Nursery Curriculum (0–1 Years)

In the Nursery Pod, our curriculum focuses on building strong, nurturing relationships with every child. We respect each baby’s individual routine and respond to their cues and gestures with care and consistency.

Our educators introduce a wide range of sensory experiences that support early learning and encourage natural curiosity. The room is carefully designed with low, accessible furniture and age-appropriate resources to promote mobility and independence from the very beginning.

Our outdoor spaces are just as considered — low, open, and secure — encouraging safe movement and the development of gross motor skills through crawling, climbing, and exploring. Inside the room, a kitchenette stocked with fresh fruit and yoghurt allows us to meet each baby’s nutritional needs throughout the day.

We work closely with families during the weaning process, offering gentle support when introducing solid foods. As a breastfeeding-friendly service, we provide a private nursing space for new mothers, creating a warm, inclusive environment where every family feels supported.

Toddler Curriculum (1–2 Years)

In our Young Toddlers room, for children aged 1 to 2 years, the curriculum is designed to support key developmental milestones such as independence, early communication, and social connection.

This stage is full of discovery, and our educators use play-based learning to nurture each child’s emerging interests. The room and outdoor areas are set up to promote movement and exploration, with low furniture and equipment that encourages walking, climbing, and balancing.

Sensory play is embedded in the daily routine, allowing children to explore textures, sounds, and materials that stimulate their growing senses. Mealtimes are used as learning opportunities, where toddlers begin to develop self-feeding skills with support from educators. We work alongside families to ensure that routines and dietary needs are understood and respected.

Throughout this stage, our educators build strong, trusting relationships with children and families, creating a consistent, caring, and secure environment.

Toddler Curriculum (2–3 Years)

For toddlers aged 2 to 3 years, our curriculum supports children as they develop their sense of identity, emotional understanding, and communication skills.

At this age, children begin to express themselves more clearly and explore their place in the world. Educators guide children through group experiences, storytelling, imaginative play, and open-ended activities that support early language, numeracy, and problem-solving skills.

The environment encourages both independent exploration and cooperative play, helping children learn to share, take turns, and work with others. Outdoor areas provide opportunities for climbing, running, and physical challenge, while inside, children build confidence through daily routines like dressing, toileting, and packing away their belongings.

We continue to work closely with families to ensure smooth transitions between home and care, building a sense of safety and continuity.

3 year old kindergarten

Our 3-Year-Old Kindergarten program is delivered by a Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teacher and funded by the Victorian Government. The program provides children with 15 hours of high-quality early learning each week and is designed to nurture curiosity, creativity, and connection, while building the foundation for lifelong learning.

Children engage in a variety of experiences that support their cognitive, social, and emotional growth, including collaborative play, creative arts, science exploration, and time in nature. Educators tailor the program to each child’s strengths and emerging abilities, ensuring every child feels seen, supported, and excited about learning.

4 Year Old Kindergarten

The 4-Year-Old Kindergarten program at Creative Hands is also Victorian Government funded and led by a Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teacher. The program offers 15 hours of structured learning each week, preparing children for a smooth and confident transition to school.

We focus on key school readiness areas such as early literacy and numeracy, problem-solving, independence, and collaboration. Children are supported through inquiry-led projects, group discussions, creative arts, storytelling, and hands-on science activities.

Outdoor exploration and physical play continue to be integral to the program, helping children build resilience and social skills. Our educators work closely with families throughout the year to ensure every child is supported in their individual readiness for school, helping them grow into capable, curious learners who are excited about their next big step.
